For my Creative Writing in a Digital World module, I’ve written a short screenplay, called The Prompt, which can be downloaded below.

My Creative Writing MA at the University of East Anglia has been a truly life-changing experience. It’s woken up parts of my brain that I didn’t even know were asleep. It’s been inspiring, enlightening and also a lot of fun! I’ve also come out of it with a few plays, several short stories, the beginnings of a new novel and some new songs. I’ve been exploring the theme of hope in all my work. To listen to some rough and ready versions of these songs, visit my Patch Stories page.

Thanks to the generosity of those who contributed to my Hopeful Stories crowdfunding campaign, I’ll be starting my Creative Writing MA at the UEA in just one week! I’m really looking forward to the course and am so grateful to all those who pledged their support in the Crowdfunding Campaign. All those who donated will be part of an e-mail group that receives monthly updates during the course of my MA, in which I will share new hopeful writing and music. If anyone reading this is interested in being part of that group, the project page is still accepting donations. Any amount, however small will be very gratefully received and will make a difference to the funding of the whole year’s course.
What gives you energy to take the next positive steps in your life? I would love you to get in touch via the contact page and let me know about some of the things you find most hopeful and inspiring in your life: books, podcasts, websites, music, places, people. I’m going to gather all these hopeful things together and send them out in my next newsletter. I look forward to exploring those that are new to me and drawing further inspiration for my creative work. If you’d like to receive my hopeful things newsletter, send me a message through the contact page and I’ll add you to the e-mail list.

A very special Creative Writing MA course was created by the UEA only a few weeks ago. A week later I applied for it, and three days after that I received my offer. The course begins in January 2025! This course will enable me to embark on exciting collaborations with some of the most inspiring people and places I’ve connected with over the past 20 years in the UK, and through it, I will also be able to connect with previously undiscovered innovative projects that provide genuine hope for the future. As a result of these collaborations, I’ll be able to create new, hopeful stories which are based in real life solutions and possibilities, that imagine what a healthier and more sustainable world could look like in the future.
To be able to accept my place on the MA course, I must raise several thousand pounds in a little over a month. This is why I’m launching my Hopeful Stories Crowdfunding Campaign. There are many rewards on the crowdfunding page that include a 12 month creative writing experience with me, which will run concurrently with the Creative Writing MA, and where I will share favourite exercises, techniques and insights gleaned from the course. There is also an opportunity to have a song or story written for you or someone you love. I would love it if you would join me on this journey!
